DELAC

What is DELAC?

The DELAC shall advise the governing board on at least the following tasks:

  1. The development of a district master plan of education programs and services for English Learners, taking into consideration the school site plans for English Learners.

  2. The district-wide needs assessment on a school-by-school basis.

  3. Establishment of a district program, goals and objectives for programs and services for English Learners (e.g., parental exception waivers and funding).

  4. Development of a plan to ensure compliance with applicable teacher or aide requirements.

  5. Administration of the annual language census (e.g., procedures and forms).

  6. Review of and comment on the district's reclassification procedures.

Roles of DELAC Officers

  1. Chairperson

    1. Develop agendas.

    2. Conduct DELAC meetings.

    3. Other duties as determined by the local DELAC bylaws.

  2. Vice-Chairperson

    1. Assist the chairperson in conducting the DELAC meetings.

    2. Conduct DELAC meetings in the absence of the chairperson.

    3. Other duties as determined by the local DELAC bylaws.

  3. Secretary

    1. Record minutes of the DELAC meeting.
